Writing News–Outlining

This week I finished my pre-writing/outlining process for my Christmas novella idea. It took me 2 weeks, but yesterday I printed off a 28 page document that has everything I need to start writing. I have the story question. I have my log line. I have a list of characters and their names and just a bit about their personalities. I have Larry Brooks 6 things. I have Blake Snyder’s 15 beats. Finally, I have 20 chapters mapped out with some combination of: Goal, Conflict, Disaster, Emotional Reaction, Review and Logic, Anticipation, Choice. I’m nervous about it, but now I’m ready to write a fast rough draft in the month of February. After that I will have 3 different manuscripts that I need to polish until May. I definitely need to stop writing new things and get that polishing done so that I have something to submit at our local writer’s conference. Still, it is exciting to have my outline done and to be all ready to type out something new.
