This week I finished revising my NaNoWriMo manuscript from Kaden’s perspective. Then I set that aside and started outlining a Christmas novella. I’ve never written a Christmas story before. But I bought a few of the Christmas Extravaganza books that my publisher puts out every year and was listening to Christmas music and baking…and BOOM! I had an idea about an orphan stuck in Russia at Christmas and there was a creepy castle and slavering wolves and… Anyway, I was able to write down my 6 vital items into a rough outline (1st plot point, 1st pinch point, midpoint, second pinch point, second plot point, and climax). Then I wrote down my 15 vital beats according to Blake Snyder’s book “Save the Cat”. Then I made a twenty chapter outline and put the 6 points and the 15 points into my chapter outline. Then I went through my idea file for this story and put all the ideas somewhere onto the chapter outline. I plan on finishing up my outline next week and then taking the month of February to write a super fast rough draft. Then I will be back revising things (Athens story, NaNoWriMo story, Christmas story) until May.
