Reading Tai-Bo

Reading Tai-Bo

This week I read “How to Speak Dragonese” by Cressida Cowell and “Twenty Boy Summer” by Sarah Ockler. Both were well written and fast paced. But I absolutely loved “How to Speak Dragonese”, it just resonated with me and there was a moment where Stoik the Vast was grieving for his son that was so powerful despite the amazing amounts of silliness that this author is able to pack into each book. Ok, you know everything that you worry about encountering after seeing a book titled “Twenty Boy Summer”? Yep, all of that stuff was in there. Not a book I recommend and yet very well written with realistic characters and real world problems. But the characters made terrible choices, never got caught, and just sort of squeaked by with learning just a tiny bit from the experience. I think I’ll read “Anne of Green Gables” next week, just to refresh myself.
