This week I completed chapters 26, 27, 28, and 30 in the Writing the Breakout Novel Workbook. Chapter 26 was “Moments in Time” and I worked on five different places in my manuscript where I attempted to freeze a moment in time and reflect. I know for sure that I did it once. The other four…not sure. Chapter 27 was “Inner Change” and I was to track and document the inner change of my protagonist by explaining how she felt about some people early on in the story and then show how she felt about them later on in the story. Chapter 28 was “Setting” and for this one I described a setting in the story and then brought my protagonist back to that setting after some significant change had occurred to use the setting as a means to illustrate her progress. I did this with two different places. Chapter 30 was “Character Delineation” and I made a list of the words that three different characters would use for the same common items and phrases attempting to make them different from each other and therefore inherently marvelous. Not sure that I accomplished anything with this one. But my manuscript is longer so it must be better…
