Reading Tai-Bo

Reading Tai-Bo

This week I was fortunate enough to read some books that my lovely sister and the Hunky Hubby got me for Christmas, on my Nook of course. “First Test”, “Page”, and “Squire” by Tamora Pierce. These are old favorites of mine and I absolutely love them. I first read them when I was looking for secular YA novels within a similar sub-genre as my own work-in-progress. And I found them in Tamora Pierce’s books. I was writing about a rough and tumble Assyrian girl who encountered Jonah in ancient Nineveh. Ms. Pierce writes about girls who hide their gender for 8 years to become knights or get captured by pirates and become the official spy masters of small foreign countries, or become the first royally sanctioned lady knights in over 100 years. These are some tough girls, and I love reading about them and their attacking sparrows of doom and pet griffins and what not. Good books that have stood the test of time.
