This week I am reading “Gregor the Overlander” by Suzanne Collins. It is for the same Jr. High boy audience that enjoys Percy Jackson and Artemis Fowl, and they are demanding and finicky readers that must have fast pacing, action, and a cool setting. All of which Ms. Collins delivers with aplomb. What did I learn from my reading this week. That strangely…Jr. High boys have great taste. Who would have known that they are the ones who first recognize and love some of my absolute favorite books. So next time you see a 12 yr. old boy loitering around looking destructive, be sure to ask him for a book recommendation before you harp on him to stop slouching and get back to work.
