This week I finished up another urban fantasy detective novel and started the latest book in a very silly, very fun series about high school and Jr. high girls who have magical powers and inadvertently zap fields of grazing cattle into the school gym and whatnot. Very fun, but I did find myself yelling at the book when the protagonist did something really stupid to destroy her blossoming romance. Why why why? I suppose I’ll have to read the next chapter and find out. What did I learn? Making your main girl make bad choices that the reader knows she will regret, keeps that reader turning pages. Although she may also be shouting at the book and stomping around the house, but at least she will for sure be reading.
