I took the boys to a wedding yesterday. I know, you other mother’s are shouting to your computer screens: “Why why! What would posses you!” It was an outdoor wedding, that the Hunky Hubby was officiating and the couple were two of our beloved counselors who have been coming up to camp since they were ity bity campers.

So we ran about in the grass at the outskirts of the meadow and gazed at the happy couple from a distance. I had to try to explain why all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen weren’t also married. After all they did walk arm in arm together in fancy attire. Isn’t that what constituted a marriage ceremony. And why not just marry them all, it would be so efficient. It is interesting to view love through a 6-year-olds eyes.

Then we snatched a cupcake for each boy and ran back outside to enjoy the decoration of the car…and more questions. “Won’t they think that something terrible is wrong with their engine when they hear those cans banging around behind them?” And off to the volley ball court to play in the sand, dig up ants in the dirt, and play a round of mini golf. So there it is, a wedding in the style of a mom of three fierce boys. Probably involves more dirt and ants then those mom’s sitting in actual wedding seats with their three little girls…or maybe not. I remember what it was like to be a little girl and it involved a fair amount of dirt and insect activity.

Yes, dirt and insects were high on your list. I remember having to force you to wear a dress now and then :D, but you survived. All those outdoor, dirt related activities prepared you nicely for mothering 3 fierce little boys. Remember the insect boards we made one summer? Racing around the meadow with your butterfly nets was wild and fun and quite successful.

    Love to you.

  • Ah, but we have a very cute picture of the bride walking in with you and your three charges in the background waaaaay across the meadow!
And thankfully my brother’s girlfriend kept Cory, where I’m sure he had plenty more fun! :0
